Transforming Poverty One Child At A Time: Philanthropic Travel

Karen Jacobsen is just an ordinary person with an extraordinary mission in life. Her mission is to transform poverty one child at a time through child sponsorship.

A year ago, the New York based Singer and Songwriter sponsored 6 year old Edina in the slums of Lusaka, Zambia. With Karen's help, Edina and the community she lives in receives clean water, health care and education. The project To Zambia With Love was created by Karen, as she encouraged everyone she knew to sponsor a child through Children International for $18 a month as she had done.

Now there are 56 children sponsored in the project.

Almost immediately after sponsoring Edina, Karen knew she had to go to Africa to meet her. She flew to Zambia, met Edina, saw first hand the difference she made, and returned with a goal of 1000 children sponsored by Valentine's Day and building a second center.

Karen is so passionate about child sponsorship, it is the theme of her latest music video, mirroring her experience of sponsoring Edina and her journey to Africa.
